he!!o Guys,
What to make of a No.4 Savage from 1943 with serial number T6116 ? There is no “traditional” Savage number present and no number has been removed. Regards, VCA

we need photos and a whole lot more to reply to something this vague , it sounds interesting and we could all speculate on a vast number of scenarios but it would only be that - speculation
unless someone here has a tag on that serial combination ????

As long as it is not TE116 you should stand a fair chance of it being 'OK'
The TE prefix were a series of rifles imported into the US from the Khyber Pass region. The importer is TG International, who stated 'honestly' in their adverts that they were sold as 'non-shooters', however, many are now on the secondary market and some are being sold as 'Pakistani' (shootable) rifles Some good pictures should help identify what it is. |

Welcome from Phoenix Arizona.
I too agree with A Square. Without photos of the top and flat side of the receiver and of the butt socket where all of the traditional stamps should be,we here cannot faithfully assist you on your question. My question to you is. How do you know that it is in fact a Savage made No4MkI* made in 1943? I have a Savage made No4MkI* with the US PROPERTY, the flaming bomb, and the square S stamped into the top and flat side of the receiver along with the No4MkI*. The only reason I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was made in 1943 is because of the serial number stamped into the butt socket just under the safety, 73C2***. Please share to the forum, photos of this rifle with any and all stampings it may have. Regards Goosic

this is the problem with either no photos or that serial number savage SN was a digit [0-90] and "C" then the number , 1943 was 40C to 81C , that "T" number leads me to 1942 maltby ,
as goosic mentions after 1941 the savage rifles were marked with US PROPERTY , and their "S" and "S" in a square marks are recognizable but neither leads us to a date , Santa Fe and others renumbered when they sported , india scrubbed and renumbered when they refurb'ed , that kyber pass option is a little scary but another real consideration , but as i mentioned this is all speculation at this point ,
