I have a really hard time getting interested in collecting handguns.  I just can't seem to find anything REALLY interesting about them.  Well, I do like the .45 auto 1911.  The one handgun I have is a Springfield XD .40 cal. The only reason I bought that is because of all the stupid laws in California.  I figured I'd better get one before they are outlawed. I just hope they can be grand-fathered in.

 Eric,

I'm surprised you can't find anything interesting about handguns. This old Webley of mine is a Mark VI made in 1917. When I think of the history of the Webley revolvers in use from 1887 through 1945, and the huge battles on the western front in WWI in 1917 and 1918, I feel utterly fascinated by the Webley and MY Webley. Plus it shoots great :-)

Almost no finish but it still has matching numbers and a perfect bore and is still in the original .455 caliber. This one goes with a  WWI SMLE like ham and eggs!

Gerry..How did you get round the Canadian laws re: M-1 Carbine, & Bren?(Great collection, by the way!)
I know the M - 1 GARAND is specifically EXEMPT from the magazine laws, but we lost the battle on M-1 carbines, due to barrell length, primarily.
(Oh someone was askin...I got 16 shootin iron right now, only 3 are enfields..well, 4 if you count my 1862 .577 cal 3 band musket)

No-one knows how many firearms I have. Not even the government/police. ESPECIALLY the government/police.

The NZ firearms licence allows me to own as many firearms as I can securely store without notifying anyone whenever I buy another one UNLESS it is a pistol, a military-style semi-automatic rifle or a restricted firearm. For these firearms, I need special endorsements for my licence ("B" - pistols, "C" - restricted collectible items, "E" - MSSAs) - and I must notify the government/police of every time I purchase or sell any firearm owned on an endorsement.

My "A" licence allows me to buy rifles and shotguns freely - though it is a good idea to sell firearms only to licence holders. As long as it is over 762 mm long and I cannot get more than 7 rounds into the magazine of a semi-auto, I can own it without telling anyone.

I know ONE man who might be able to give a close estimate of how many firearms I own. My wife could not tell you how many firearms I own. And I want it to stay that way. If the government introduces registration (always a possibility) I want to be able to register all my firearms. Both of them.

I own  an 1904 mark one  b.s.a, 1942 Long Branch number 4 mark 1, 1944 #4 mk 2,  1942 #4 mk1 B.S.A.?, 1950 Ishipore #1 Mk 3 .303, 1966 #1 Mk 3 A2 in 308. also mini-14, 1945 Turkish Mauser, model 1917 Eddystone and a .50 black powder rifle. I bought most of them in pawn shops at good prices.
