Looking for a project while the T is getting its “refurbishment”, I stripped the C No. 7 to give the furniture some attention.  The upper band is solid, very thick (0.073 inches) and has a piling swivel. I didn’t think any of the No. 4 series production rifles (including the trainers) had piling swivels??  The Mk VI and No. 4 trials rifles did.

Anyone seen a band like this one?  It also has a small square S stamp, Savage production?

The No 4's didn't have piling swivels from the factory. Any with a piling swivel or anything else were added later. Turkey did this quite a bit, they added piling swivels and stacking rods to No 4's. Many of the Turkish imports in the 90's - 2000's had them.

I saw the Turkish Enfields at shown in North Carolina. Had the added stacking rod but not cheap. From $500 and on up.

The bores not great.

It’s a very stout band, never seen one this heavy.  Seems out of place on a C No. 7.

I've got a few of those heavy, thick front bands. They are very hard to install/remove without doing damage to the fore end caps. I prefer not using them if it can be avoided.

I have a couple as well. I don't use them if I have a choice because they are such a pain to deal with.

Yup, I decided to push the front pin out of the nose cap to slide the band off.
