I was informed that what I thought the "L" was might be the number 1. Still would like some help on this. Thanks

My best guess would be a rack location disc for some unknown regiment.
Rack No 129 B coy

Thank you Sir. With the lack of other disc markings, I will go with that.

When I was in the forces our regiment had a few enfields (unit museum) with similar discs that were in fact rack location identifiers.

there are marking discs in a few of mine , only one ever seemed to have significance Royal irish rifles , 2nd battalion royal ulster rifles but there were overmarks that confused things , royal dublin fusiliers cancelled , it was made a mkIII in 1915 so it was fun musing of it all back when but the consensus was the last marking to 3rd military district in austrailia was the only real confirmed service

i was led to believe that these were often replaced with rack number markings or reversed to display nothing when re-purposed to schools or sold out of service ,

i do have a few webley revolvers with very clear service markings and dates in the backstrap , a couple bayonets with nice markings as well as the cancelled confusions , somewhere i have lists of the markings that i collected over the years - i will pull them out of the files when i get time and see if there is more to offer ,

Good morning - re your stock disc.  L29B - "L" represents Lancers, 29 is the Regiment and "b" represents B company (I believe).

Your rifle is the correct age to have been issued to the 29th Lancers (Deccan Horse)

I have attached their history link and a link for future reference for some stock disc codes that may assist you and other members.

Regards

Atho

If its a .303 then its for me....!

No problems whatsoever.  If anyone else has similar stock discs I have a couple of reference books - happy  to help where I can.
