Hoadie, I agree. I'm hoping that after this settles down, the world will realize that depending on one country for the bulk of our trade is never a good idea. There is more to life than saving a few dollars on merchandise, especially when the vast majority of the income China generates goes into their military and not their citizens welfare. I for one have made a conscience effort to boycott Chinese made products and will now purchase more stuff made in Canada, the US, or any NATO country.

On a trip back to the UK, I wanted to take back 'Canadian' gifts for my friends. I went to a local Trading Post that was full of knick knacks and souvenirs. All the Mountie dolls and all the fake soap stone carvings were made, one guess....China. Juist about every friken thing in the store other than a few local made handcrafts was imported from China.
I took a roll of brand new Looney coins ($1 coin for those outside of Canada) and a 24 case of Molson Canadian as walk on baggage.

I gave the beer to adults, the shiny 'gold' coins to their kids.

So for the return to Canada, I wanted to buy British souvenirs for my Canadian friends. I went to a local gift store. Guess where everything was made? Yup, China for fook's sake.

I bought craft beer and got a roll of shiny pound coins to bring back.

Everything is made so cheap. I despair sometimes trying to buy hand tools and hardware to use around home. It is all crap. Made where? China!

I try to buy non-chinese, but it is not always possible. Even domestic made good have 'off shore' made components.
There are more american made parts in a Honda Gold Wing motor cycle than there are american made parts in a Harley Davidson. Even Winchester lever action rifles, the definitive cowboy rifle is no longer made in USA. FFS!

Rant over.

They did the same thing with the Chinese flu pandemic of 1968 and the original SARS virus as well. People are contracting this virus globally and the death toll continues to rise and that is a given. The what if here being, if the Chinese government had announced their f**k up quicker, the world might not be witnessing this on such a scale as it is now. This is the third time in my life that I have been subjected to something bad originating from China.

Because, we all have to take the responsibility of our own well being. Anyone watched CNN interview with Bill Gates?  Blaming China is nothing more than blaming guns kill people.

Englishman;

I was in Blighty last June (then to Normandie for the D-Day celebrations). My pard lives near Stonehenge - so naturally we went there. I bought a few "souvenirs" -a T-Shirt, ball cap & a large mug. All of it was made in China.
When I went over, I brought a jug of Gibson's Finest(Rare) for my pard, some Icewine for his bride, pure maple syrup for his son & ...believe it or not - TWINKIES for his daughters. (They cant get Twinkies over there,& daughters have some kinda fixation about a movie they saw with their friends..so I send Twinkies quite often. (Oh, I also brought my Slap Ya Mama spices)

Fact... this virus started in China. In a "wet" market that wouldn't even exist in any Western country. Fact... The Chinese government knew about it long before they released details. Fact... They have continuously denied the above facts, even to the point of accusing the US of a military "planting" of the virus. Fact... They have threatened to stop the sale of pharmacutical drugs to the US... On a world stage, they have a lot to be held accountable for.

With all due respect, China's actions does not compare to blaming guns for killing people.

This is the most disgraceful case of arrogance, secrecy and absolute disregard for human life I have witnessed in my 60 years on Earth.

Sidneyw. Part of your quote states."Because, we all have to take the responsibility of our own well being."
This is indeed true,to a point.
I have never been nor will I ever travel to China.  Nothing I have ever done in my life has made it's way to China and affected or infected their populations.  However. The same cannot be said of China agreed?
The current situation started in China(and this is not the first time this has happened either) and has quickly engulfed the planet. China has made the feeble attempt to accuse the United States of making a bioweapon and sending it to China? Not one related article associated with this gross negligence stemming from NOT taking the responsibility of their own well being so as to NOT infect the whole of the worlds population is there any apologies given.
False accusations and denialism from a country that does not care for the United States in the first place? I truly believe in a " Tooth for a tooth and an Eye for an Eye." The final death toll taken, excluding the dead from China needs to be extracted from the Chinese government in anyway imaginable and then the whole of that main government faction NEEDS to be turned into a sheet of glasss with a stern warning to their people NOT let this happen again. f**k China!!!

I would add to the above... the COVID19 virus is a deliberate intentional release of a deadly pathogen, originating from China.  As such, this is: A Crime Against Humanity.

Others above in this post have stated that they need to be held Accountable. With a capitol A. I agree.  In our democratic society, one thing we can do is notify our representatives as to our feeling and thoughts.

This may seem like only a drop in the bucket of concerns right now, however, is a useful step to start the process. IMHO.

Someone mentioned Bill Gates... I didn't read the CNN (Communist News Network) interview but would suggest much of Mr. Gates wealth was dervived from China. Reminds me a bit on Jane Fonda's visit to North Vietnam and her iconic picture sitting behind an AA gun... and not being convicted of treason... China, Russia, North Korea and several other regions of the world are absolutely dedicated to destroying our way of life... not the best of countries to do business with, in my opinion. Trump may be rough around the edges, but he sees it... and they know he sees it...

This will be my last post on this subject. We will come out the other side, stronger... and in doing so, make our lifelong foes weaker... keep save, my friends.
