It is never going to be original and I do not need another"target rifle".
I have my Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle scoped currently and wanted a utilitarian rifle. Enter the No5MkI with a RedDot sighting system.  It's functional and does not detract from the rifles aesthetics IMHO...

Goosic, that's actually pretty cool! Could you share how it is mounted and what breed the red dot is?

Bore sighted only so far. As soon as I can get the heII out of Phoenix and up to Skull Valley I will definitely get it sighted in.
Side note. To defeat the dreaded he!! Type he and then capitalized the letter i twice.🤓

that looks real nice.

I got one of those types of sights, and mounted to my Ruger 10/22.  I’m eager to take it to the range soon.

Do you think that the recoil will affect it?

An acquaintance of mine has an AR type rifle in 300 Blackout and has the same sight. No issue so far with losing the zero. Time will tell however...

i love the look of it but something in the back of my brain screams wrong in some of the things done to these , i will quickly add that i admire your work and they always present well , i dont think i would buy it but i have to admit i would be tempted , no flame or offence intended in any way - just speaking my thoughts

The moment I screwed that 2A1 barrel on it,it was screaming at me as well. I have the Savage that I installed the reproduction No32MkI scope assembly on and that bothers me to an extent. I cannot change what I have done to the No5 in regards to the mechanics of it however and to be honest,I wouldn't.  The L42A1 magazines cost me as much as a regular No4Mk1 costs in my neck of the woods and I'm going to use them.

having the exact same rifle and i was thinking about the exact same sight system, although i was recommended to choose another, zooming one saying that the dot doesn't really fits this one.
i'm only a delicious recipes chef and pretty new to rifles so i can't judge. however, looking at your pics, it does fits is really well and looks wonderful (practical, i think it applies too). can you confirm it?

You have a No5MkI chambered to fire 7.62x51 NATO ammunition?
I cannot confirm your question as the red dot sight has been removed and i put my original customized MkI Singer sight with horizontal adjustment back on the rifle.

It is not an uncommon 'upgrade' in Germany, I have seen / heard of several.

I'm glad to see it. I'd thought about a Burris Micro dot, but never got round to doing it.
There's also that strange mirror open sight with the green arrow. I can't remember the brand, they are tiny though.

I spent 18 months in Germany.  Nue Ulm Germany to be exact, and I have absolutely no memory of that time.
Thankfully, my mother had the hindsight to document the first 18 months of my life on this rock with photographic evidence.
