Well, last week I burned the factory gunk off of it. Yesterday I smoked it for about 6 hours with all sorts of typical meats & seasonings I normally use. The fire had a smattering of the woods I usually cook on.
About 4 hours in the smoke exiting started to actually smell pretty much like my old BBQ did, which was the goal.
I actually ate the brat in the background!
It was strongly flavored, crispy outside with a perfect 1/4" smoke ring & juicy inside!

Yum!

Tried something different this last Saturday in my little CharBroil offset smoker.  We did eight chicken thighs (rather than the more normal two whole chickens).  Came out terrific after 2-1/2 hours.  Have to be a little more active than with larger chunks to rotate what is closest to the heat.

Definitely will be repeated.
