The setup in your second picture looks like a Lyman 17A with it's dovetail filed to fit the Enfield
No4 base.I did it several years ago and it's a "LOT" of filing, but it looks good & works+++it's only around $60 & comes with it's own set of inserts.

Best wishes,

I'll have to figure out how it was mounted in the picture I posted. I'm not going to saw off the barrel lugs or remove the ears. The gunsmith I use is a pretty handy machinist. There must be a way of making an adapter to make it like the one in the picture.

Ah, OK. Here is what the eBay description says. I should have read it more closely.

adaptor to fit the dovetail . this is bored to 17mm to fit .303 no4 barrels however i have successfully drilled one to 18mm to fit my martini henry and they can be used as a basis to modify to fit most round barrels by someone with basic metalwork skills . i fixed mine with epoxy resin so that in future with a little heat it can be removed from the barrel .
NOTE will not fit over bayonet lugs .

It does look like the barrel lugs will have to be removed in order to make this work.

The eBay picture shows the AJP Matchmaker,"identical to the Anschutz globe sight"with 17mm inserts. It will not fit on a standard Enfield sight base, which is why the the one pictured comes with its own sight base...

Yes they exist as a direct replacement for the blade. This does make them rather high though so you'll be dialing in lots & lots of clicks on the rear to compensate.

That one pictured you are showing has the dovetail cut for the Enfield sight base and the sight base is cut flat across the top as well. The PH1 and the FS22 Matchmaker globe sights can be found with the Enfield dovetail and sometimes you can find the Enfield modified No4 sight base too...

I can't see the details of exactly how this is affixed. I'm hoping to be able to this rather than clean off the whole front end of the rifle.

I was hoping to mount it this way.

I found a PH1front globe sight for my application. The original rifling is junked and I knew I was going to use the .22 tube so I filed off the bayonet lugs and the sight base lugs. Silver soldered the new sight base on and there ya' go.

If you are referring to the front sight protector and sight base on a No4 then you would be correct.
To install this particular setup correctly, you would have to remove the bayonet lugs and the lugs the original sight base slid over.

Goosic. I suspect that means the above PH front site cannot be used without removing the front "ears" and stock sites?

How is this site installed on a Lee Enfield? I assume it replaces the stock front site and must require some drill and tapping.

I have one of those on my L39A1. It's a good system when used with the match rear sight.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
