A rifle like yours, because the barrel isn't bobbed, would go for between $350-$450 in my part of the country. Full wood Lee Enfield prices have gone real high lately ( and unmolested Sporters, meaning none of the steel has been removed) but Sporters that have been permanently "modified" are selling between $250-$300. That's actually good for new hunters wanting an inexpensive rifle with enough power to handle anything in North America!

Value is dependent on geographical location but as you have stated that it was passed down to you from your dad, that should make the rifle priceless. Sporterized Enfields like yours are a dime a dozen so to speak and will range in value between $250.00 to $525.00 and again, that is depending on geographical location.

Will be able to do that over the weekend. Everything seems solid. What would you say the value is as is. $450? Will never sell as it is passed down from my dad. Just curious.

The barrel seems unmodified so it is restorable to Mil Spec. BUT I should warn you its a labor of love as parts have increased dramatically in price recently. To check barrel length UNLOAD & "prove safe". Close the bolt fully. (This will cock the action & withdraw the firing pin.) Apply the safety. Slide a cleaning rod in from the muzzle end till it contacts the closed & locked bolt face. Mark the rod & withdraw it. Measure from the mark to the tip of the rod. Unmolested it should be 25.2 in (640 mm). When done take off safe open bolt pull & hold trigger, close bolt with trigger pulled. (easing springs) |

In full military drag it would have looked like this, except for the target peep sights at the rear of the action. |

Looks to be in good shape. It has been sporterized, the forearm has been cut down and it's missing the top handguards and rear sight protector. Has the barrel been cut down? Can you post a pic of the front of the barrel where the front sight is?

Welcome aboard the Lithgow owner/ship. 👍
It looks like the (S 3343) is in the right location, top right side rear of the action? If so it’s the PAA number, hopefully it should have the same matching number underneath the bolt handle? PAA=Proof Action Assembly. Cheer’s.

A few pictures of the overall rifle will help, may have been sporterized.
