With the ranges in this area closed down for Covid19, it was time to set up at home for some target practice with the C No. 7.  I found some Military Short Range (SR) targets online reduced for 50 feet.  The X ring is a tiny dot, about .03 inches in diameter.  The 10 ring is 3/8 inch in diameter, a bit larger than a .30 cal bullet.  The 9 ring is 7/8 inch.  The scoring rings are arranged in this manner for the NRA rules that the bullet breaks the scoring ring the higher score counts.

I set up prone, in the usual manner for shooting vintage matches: shooting mat, coat, sling, and glove.  After three shots, I checked the target, all three shots blew out the tiny X ring.  This rifle is super accurate!  It felt very strange not to have any recoil, and it is very easy to watch the sights in follow thru on taking the shot.

The upshot is I don’t have to drive 1 1/2 hours to the range!  And, it’s free!  And there’s no way to wear out the barrel and action shooting a .22 Long rifle.

I was able to find a -0.030 front sight.  That brought the rear sight way down, but it’s still high, aligned to to 100 yard range mark.  I’m shooting sub-sonic ammo, but can’t imagine that makes much difference.
