We have a volunteer to host 2009 M&G.
Tony has expressed his desire to host the meet in England next year. How about a show of hands from those whom think they may be interested in attending the meet in England next year. |

wHAT HE SAID! Europeans seem to get better airline rates than we here in the west.SO..You may want to start your search with a carrier like British Airways, & the like.

Hoadie I traveled on Northwest non stop to Amsterdam. You need to check around with all the airlines they run specials from time to time. I did however do a search on British Airways I found round trip ticket for $575 USD's Most domestic flights are at leat that or higher. 575 is an excellent price. At that price it is tempting to book now.

I was looking in that a little deeper they included some taxes which added a few 100 dollars but even so it was still a good price

Sounds good to me....except.....what is the process for bringing rifles/ammo back and forwards...I know for a fact that England has some of the most messed up gun laws anywhere..and thats coming from a former Aussie!
Has anyone looked into this? Or do we all shoot Tony's stuff!! BTW, very nice of you to offer mate. |

Tony has addressed all this allready and is working all that out. It is not has bad as I thought. US Customs bringing it back is more trouble. Thier worried about illegal imports. They want to be sure the rifle you take out with you is the exact same one you return with.
So are you in Roo?

Ok guys I'm posting a link for those interested in coming to the uk. LERA is the UK enfield enthusiasts site and welcomes overseas visitors. Read the bumf and see what you think. They shoot at bisley regularly will help overseas visitors get permits to bring weapons into the country. Membership is £20 for overseas visitors which isn't ott and range fees will probably work out cheaper. The other bonus is you'll meet guys who have similar interests exchange info etc. I'm not ducking out of sorting things this end what I am doing it trying to make sure you get a chance to shoot at the UKs premier range over a weekend.

If it's ok with you guys I'll start a separate section on here devoted purely to the M&G to try answer questions and sort problems as best I can. Post info re accomodation etc. As to ammo I have limited supply due to regulations over here. So what I suggested to CM is you bring your favourite bullets and brass or post the items to me and we reload over here. We can take a quick trip to the local gunshop for primers and powder and give you guys the chance to see what a brit gunshop looks like. That should cut down on weight in the baggage sector plus reduce problems with customs and airlines. Bring a small supply with you for starters though.

You have over a year to save up. Plus we are also trying to get group rates on airline tickets and a bed & Breakfast close to Tony's house. If everyone would start now it would not be that bad on the finances. Average price of plane tickets that I have found so far as been $850.00USD so that is around $16.35 a week so with a little savings each week this is not out of anyones reach to go. PassPort is a six weeks wait so would recommend to get that now. so if you all put your mind to this it is no more expensive then traveling local in your own Country.
