90 KM/H wind gusts all night long here in the lower mainland of BC. Still blowing hard but our power is still working thank goodness for that. Once the wind abates I will go outside to look for any damage, especially to my vinyl siding.

Alberta gets at least two to three cold snaps every year that commonly drop to -40C. I drove to work last week in -42C with a windchill of -50. Not just Saskatchewan!

Difference is: nobody really lives in Saskatchewan... Nothin there but frozen tundra...& if you look west - you can see Alberta in the distance! (Then again...you can see Alberta from the Manitoba/Ontario border!!

One or two times a year is enough for snow fall like that. My son sent us a pic like that a copy of years ago, problem was that he lived outside of Atlanta, Ga, My sister in law sends pic like that ever now and then as they live St. Paul, Minn area.  Yesterday was 80 and then it rained overnight and temps are lower today looking at high around 79.
You folks stay warm up North.

Thanks 42rocker. I was out this morning snowshoeing over 2’ of snow to my shop to change the oil in my tractor. Its a beautiful sunny -35C (-31F) right now in the North Peace Country here in NW Alberta. Temperatures like this are hard on wildlife and livestock but as long as they’re well fed they stay warm. If we (add a layer for every 10 degrees is my rule of thumb) properly dress for it you’ll be sweating under your snowsuit by the time you’re ready to come in.

Haha! Well ya there are a few hardy farm folk living out there on the “tundra” prairies. They say when your dog runs away you can watch him running for a few days, of something like that. We northern Albertans are adversely unfammiliar with your extreme heatwaves. We were thinking of visiting friends in Atlanta some winter. I don’t think I could stand your summers. I can handle cold but I dont do well in the heat.

I video chatted with my son today in Silverdale Wa., across from Seattle. He has at least a foot of new snow. His car is snowed in at the base parking lot and he had to have a ride home after their last escort mission. Its a mess where he is as they normally get a few inches a year.

i am looking forward to the 80s again , i do not handle the cold well anymore , my reyknolds has been nearly unbearable on some days , its not getting cold that hurts it is the warming up that takes its toll , i dont think my feet have been warm for a few months - if they have i was asleep ,

another month and things will be going the other way , in spite of that socialist from here that announced her presidential candidacy yesterday = do not vote for her !!!
or the stupid democrat muslim from here that had to severely walk back her bigoted comments of the last few weeks ,
im seeing a pattern here - the dems that have always accused the conservatives of racism and bigotry are suddenly becoming emboldened enough to show their true colors - guess who the real bigots are among us ............................

not surprising since the democrats were the party of the KKK

Back up to a balmy -20C around here today. Still no sign of a day warm enough to go to the range in the 14-day forecast.

Blowing driving snow...supposed to switch to freezing rain..then back to snow, then the back side of this..more freezing rain tomoorow as the front passes.
AHH..life in the Great White North...phooey!
