I just received an e-mailed from the bloke that wanted to swap his DCRA for my mint Ruger Old Army. He considers himself a cap and ball expert and owns an Uberti. He felt it is a far better revolver than my Ruger and in saying that, felt the swap needed some cash (in his favour, of course.) I told him to save the gas on coming into town as I mentioned we had informally agreed on straight-out. And that in my mind, the Ruger is far more robust than Ubertis. Oh well, stuff happens!

It sucks it went that way. People just have to let their greed get the better of them sometimes.

As an even swap I think he was (very) slightly ahead. The Ruger Old Armies are climbing in price rapidly. I'd not go a penny over even..]

Agree! So much so, I checked my rack and have lots of fffg and caps. Just ordered 100 Hornady .457" lead balls as I was out. Gonna go make some smoke once the balls arrive! (I even found my old owners manual that came with the gun. Right in there, it says you cannot overload this pistol with black powder! That's how strong the gun is! When I shot it, I used 30gr Goex fffg, topped it up with corn meal then seated the ball. Then lub e.It has a 7 1/2" barrel and was pretty accurate.) That being said, always loved the history of the Walker-Colt! What a beast! Any idea what ft/sec and energy both the Walker and the Ruger generate? Thanks!

Common for self proclaimed experts  to back out  and often on bad advice from another expert. LOL

Good luck and keep the eyes open.

My Uberti likes 34 Gr of FFFg. no signs of over-pressure.
