Way more to come. Civilized people are pretty forgiving, but there always is a point when enough is enough. We say enough is enough...

we were saying it for four years , now its adjustment time ,

i hope ireland gets their adjustment right and i hope canada does what they need to - if the liberal bastions that feel they rule the world get isolated maybe they will see just how bad they really are , i would welcome those provinces as states - we went from 48 to 50 in 1959 , its about time we went to 54

B.C. would never vote for separation but I could see Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba seceding.  Just think how that would strengthen America with Alberta's vast oil deposits and Saskatchewan and Manitoba's wheat and other products. Added bonus, the home of my Father's side of the family, Winnipeg would be American.  'Murica!

If this where to happen I think the departing provinces would form a new Country, not join the US.

THE REPUBLIC OF WESTERN CANADA.

RWC

This way the departing provinces would not be over ruled by the larger US. Also the RWC could interface with the old remaining and still be Canada by another name.

The RWC could pass home rule and prosper.

True, although there are worse things than being an American state.  States' rights would kick in so any powers not expressly written for the Federal government would automatically devolve to the three new states and they would have our Bill of Rights.  Further, no tariffs on their exports so they would enjoy prosperity unheard of in their history of being Canadian provinces.

What do the Canadians think?

I think it would work.

The Canadian military would have to be divided and government assets as well.

The wild card are the what do the indigenous people want to do?

Militarily, it would be a pretty even split the new republic would have 4 Wing of the RCAF, and the 3rd Canadian Division of the Army.  CFB Cold Lake with its Squadron of CF18s, and CFB Edmonton and CFB Shiloh with 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group would be proportional to the other provinces.  No navy bases of course since they're mainly split between CFB Esquimalt and CFB Halifax unless they wanted to build one on Hudson Bay. Paddy makes a good point, nothing will happen without the aboriginals agreeing to it.

I would agree with the comments on aboriginals but remember, CANADA has the treaties with them, not the new "Western Republic."

I hope it happens, either the three provinces joining the U.S. or going their own way and form a new republic.  It's just unfortunate that Pee-Air isn't alive to see the inevitable result of his arrogant dismissing of the western provinces.  It was he who lit the slow fuse of western separation when he was P.M.

Good point! I hadn't considered that.
