I'm after a No 4 barrel. I'm really only interested in NOS or Criterion. Yeah, I know. I've a better chance of getting hit by a meteor but I have to ask.

I just saw that Lothar Walthar is making barrels for the No 4 Mk1. Anyone heard anything about them?

Never mind, I just ordered a Lothar-Walther barrel.

Please let us know how the barrel installation goes and how it shoots. I’m hoping to at least get through this years match shooting before I have to replace the barrel.
I hope it will index to the receiver correctly without the need for breaching up washers or machining the shoulder back.

It's definitely going to be a learning experience. My gunsmith has never done an Enfield. He's pretty competent, a complete a$$hole of course but pretty competent. I'm going to give him a shiny new #0 bolt head to use. Right now it has the longest #3 on earth and the camber looks like a goose egg.
Maybe I should go to a more experienced Enfield gunsmith but I don't know any and this guy is local.

^^^^ That’s why I ended up getting the tooling to do it myself. ^^^

Yeah, that's not an option. I'm nowhere near qualified nor near a big enough a$$hole.

You don’t need to be either
![]() Back in the days that there were lots of Armourers around, it was common to take a shot out barrel and machine the breaching face back a few turns and rechamber, thus breathing new life into a shot out barrel.
