My first centre fire was a .310 cadet ! I then moved up to .303's but
not before a lot Of Foxes ,Goats & Roos had fallen to that little
.310 I was about 14 when I saved the money up for that .310
(& My Dad went crazy that I'd wasted 15dollars including 100 rnds
of ammo for it ) Now my 12yr old has discovered the round & no Roo
,goat or Fox is safe

My first hunting rifle was a ZKK-600 in .270 Winchester, lots of critters went to the freezer with that one.

I traded down to a 7mm mag once from a 375 H&H cz 601 the 7mm was on a 700 Rem BDL 50 shots later I traded up to the 375H&H again as I reckon it had less recoil ! Dave |

Well, since we're discussin the FIRST huntin rifle, I have to say that mine was a .303, as well.In fact, as a cadet - I fired .303 FIRST there too, BEFORE we shot .22
(I dunno - just worked out that way) Hoadie |

Boy have times changed here in the PRK. Right after my 12th birthday, I
spent most of Saturday in the basement of a Sears store taking my
hunters safety course. After the test, I ran upstairs and proudly
purchased a box of 180grn 30-06 cartridges, met my dad out front and we
were off to go deer hunting. No deer that year, but lots of fun.

TO DAVE H G,DAY M8, YEH, ITS THE STOCKADE ALL RIGHT,POMMIE BASTARDS AT THEIR "best"AGAIN!!!!! THE TRUE AUSSIE FLAG,THE SOUTHERN CROSS,BLUE WITH WHITE CROSS AN 5 STARS, I BELIEVE ON DISPLAYED AT BALLARAT MUSEUM,WAS DESIGNED BY A CANADIAN MINER(at the stockade).CAN,T REMEMBER OFF HAND IF HE WAS CALLED LEIUTENANT ROSS OR JOHNSON? WE ALL NEED SOMETHING IN OUR MINDS TO REMIND OURSELVES HOW LUCKY WE ARE,AND THE SACRIFICES OTHERS HAVEGONE THRU,SO WE CAN ENJOY OUR LIVES TODAY! BALLARAT IS AN EXAMPLE.THE COAL MINERS STRIKE,HERE IN NANAIMO,WHERE I LIVE,IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE.COAL MINERS ON STRIKE, WERE FELL UPON,BY HER MAJESTY,S ARMY AND THE TRAPS,. SOME WERE BEATEN TO DEATH,OTHERS SHOT TO DEATH,.SO MUCH FOR nice quiet non threatening canadians
POPS(glenn) i started off hith a #4 mk.1, then got a browning .375H&H. lent it to a fella in 1965 to go moose hunting. never seen him,or the browning again.today, its a #4mk1*/3 (savage U.S.A.) and a 1964 m-70 in ,30-06. has a brand new 1958..Barrel. yea1958.tks to member.303carbine. shoots under 1.moa really nice gun. Winchester 30-30... Am I the only one around here that started with the ole 30-30? It was my fathers he used it back in the 40's and 50's to hunt with.. Then it was my turn... It was willed to him by and old Sherif who had carried it on duty.. It had been on more then one man hunt. (or so The story goes)
