She isn't in fact, I worked at a strategic level in the NHS in Scotland when she was Health Minister and she was known to be phenomenaly effective, well prepared, knowledgeable and thoroughly on top of her brief.

I bow to your greater knowledge. Although it does seem from afar to be so.

A pal I talked to yesterday in Scotland sees her in a Very different light, Flanker.
He says to put it politely, she is destructive and only wanting separation, which he sees as causing great harm.

There!  I said it without using bad language!  :-)

I think of the old saying, (Was it Lincoln?)  "If we don't hang together, we will all hang separately".

Ben Franklin is the author of that particular saying, but I do love a lot of Lincoln's quotes as well.  Only Winnie (Churchill) has more good repeatable quotes than all the others together.

Nope on the frying for those two.

Both have wander around Washington DC and see the sins they gave to the Country forever.

not arguing history here - it was what it was , ill never deny it , but ..............

i have long respected everyone of the men that fought that war , on both sides , having my civil war roots in northern arkansas , grown up in iowa and lived my the most productive years in minnesota , i have seen the spectrum of thinking on the subject , my early relatives fought the iowans in nortjhern arkasas and southern missouri , my neighbors relatives here were with sherman a bit of the way , i have always felt the war was over .........

i say that but i do not , repeat , do not say to forget ,

i firmly believe every single fallen in that war of either side deserves our respect and remembrance - they were all americans - i have flown both flags proudly over the years and will not stop now because some political BS decided it was un-PC for me to do so , they can kiss my redneck a$$ ,

i am equally proud of my stars and bars as well as my stars and stripes and no politician will ever take that from me , they cannot demonize my flags , my guns , my thinking nor my speech ,

at least not without demonizing me - my relatives -and everything we have fought and died for here , im even proud of my feudin relatives that lived in the arkansas hills ,

I know some people think that but it's unfair to personalise that to her, she's very interested in dealing with poverty, inequality, squalour and illness too.  She's the leader of an independence party which has 56 of the 59 Scottish seats at Westminster and 63 seats in the Scottish Parliament. This is 2 short of a majority but the Green Party have 6 seats and are pro-independence, so there is a majority for independence at Holyrood. Since the EU referendum polls suggest the voting intentions in any subsequent independence referendum are 52% in favour, this is new.

Yes Nicola Sturgeon wants independence but the EU vote has made that the majority view in Scotland now. If Westminster wanted to keep the UK in it's current form, they really dropped thed the ball this time.

Independence can't be that bad; I don't hear the Irish, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, people of the Indian subcontinent, the denisons of sundry African states or Pacific Islands or citizens the US clamouring to be allowed back into the Empire Wink
Life is full of possibilities, 50% of them are likely to good....

Well for sure everyone's got the resigning bug. Cameron is going, Corbyn is hanging on by the fingernails, Farage is resigning and not to be outdone, Chris Evans has resigned from Top Gear.

Whether in or out of Europe, things are gonna look a bit different around here.

For a good discussion on this subject, have a look at British Militaria Forums, and at the bottom of the forums page, you will see "the soap box" and Brexit.

It is a very enlightening  read....  :-)

Perhaps that's what is needed, uncomfortable as it may be. Sometimes you have to clean house & just start over.

thanks for the link to the British Militaria site Pukka. I found it a very good thread; however the video clip of Hitler with sub titled as Boris was brilliant and hilarious. Proof that we should laugh at anything! it's so much better for your health than worrying!
