I have a bayonet that a friend of mine got while in Iraq and am having trouble identifying it, hoping some of you can help. It is marked 1871 Enfield, has the govt acceptance mark and is Marked War Dept. The other side has a crown marking that doesn't match any of the crown markings I have seen so far. Below the crown is a B which I believe means Brimingham RSAF, and below that a 32 which could mean Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry? On the pommel is the marking C308 which I think is a conversion mark but not sure? And on the quillon is a Z with a circle around it. The closest I can come up with is an 1888 Mk III but this WAY too short. Any help is appreciated.

Neither a Pat. 1888 Mk III nor a British bayonet. I guess someone has been having fun with the markings!  Photo of a Pat 1888 Mk III attached.

thats was my thought at first , but that is a mauser style bayonet , basically an M1871 , these were used by numerous countries in south america , europe and the middle east , spain , yugoslavia , czechs and siberia had a version M1899 also notably egypt used these in their M1949 

it does not have a quillon - were you refering to the muzzle ring ?

I have no interest in Continental bayonets, but according to my reference material it is an                  M 1899/1915 Mauser bayonet. I expect that its markings were embroidered in the hope of enhancing its selling price!

actually i believe its authentic mauser and i agree with terry lee that its been remarked - most likely for the reason he stated as that muzzle ring and lock would not fit any enfield , the scabbard looks to be authentic as well , 

as i indicated in my initial post , basically an M1871 but the M 1899/1915 was the later version of that

looks like an Austrian 1895 Steyr bayonet. I've only been wrong twice? RED

that would misds the date on it but then someone [kyber pass folks] already defaced it to make it appear commonwealth so id not put it past them to missmark the date as well , 
the problem with that is - its easy to add markings to change the appearance it is difficult to remove originals and alter them , 

i did research jansens and i do see the similarity but then the times were such that many countries were using the production of another , that date would be hard to eradicate then reproduce as another , just saying ,
