Quite a few sights were "Universal" back then.
It was basically a 2-piece deal.
Part one was the "universal sight".
Part 2 was the mount to whatever it was universal for! & therein lies the catch! You have to find the mount, or it's universally useless!
Back then they were all ND/NT so they used existing bolts.
Shocked
My #9 sight is most commonly found with the mount for the "long Lees".

But I needed one for an S.M.L.E.

Till you find the mount its a tiny boat anchor!
Confused

Received this picture from the seller last night. This is one he sold last year complete with dog bone mount.
I figure this will be easy enough to make so I bought the sight. It`ll give me something to fiddle with.
Still have no idea who the maker is/was as there are no maker makes, patents etc. Truly a mystery sight for sure. If any of you fine gents have any info, pls chime in.

Around 1908  the NRA (UK) advertised for designs and prototypes of rifle sights which were to be judged and accessed for use in NRA Bisley competitions.
I understand well over 100 sights were submitted; what ever happened to them all...?

I think I just bought one lol. I am a gluten for punishment.
At the very least, it`l give me something to do figuring out how to fashion a dog bone mount for it.
