Ammo Suggestions

I have a somewhat embarrassing  and somewhat humorous story about not being much of a hunter if I need the magazine fully loaded. When I was 14 years old, about 52 years ago, I was whitetail deer hunting with this rifle in a tree stand in East Texas. My magazine was fully loaded. A big buck with a large rack (11 points) came carelessly on a "rut" within about 75 yards of my stand. I fought the temptation of "buck fever" nervousness quite successfully while I made my first shot. It was at an awkward angle for me. That shot only wounded the deer, but instead of running away (and dying a slow death), he began to run back and forth in front of my stand at great speed. Buck fever overwhelmed me as the deer was very quickly running to and fro. I shot all but one round in my magazine. On many of those missed shots, I could see dirt fly just beyond the deer. When I shot the last round, the deer thankfully became disabled. I climbed down from the tree, put about 5 more rounds in the magazine, and advanced toward the deer. On the 3d shot, it was over for the deer. The misery for both of us ended. 

Obviously, I was shaking and breathing hard when it was over. Buck fever had command of me after the first shot. Some of those shots may have been more directed more toward clouds than the deer for all I know. Friends hunting near me could not imagine what was going on. 

So, I obviously needed more rounds than the clip would hold. Having once needing that many may explain my desire to have that capacity again. Back in those days, I always said that I was a good hunter, but a bad shot. These days I am working hard to improve upon my marksmanship. I have had some success in doing so. On that day, however, it is true that I was not much of a hunter. 

No feeding issues either.
