If the RAINFORESTS are saved..global waring wud retreat somewhat..because those trees ABSORB CO2 & make 02

Never a truer word spoken ! Salinity is a Major problem over here. Due to the fact of excessive clearing of Trees ,as well as a major erosion problem ! There are major Tree planting schemes,in place . The problem as I see it is policing the clearing of Rain forests in 3rd world countries that are cash hungry ! Dave |

Saving the rain forrest includes cutting back on fuel consumption. So you lot with gas guzzlers should buy smaller cars !!!!!! Your fuel bills would be cheaper too. Plant trees reduce methane and co2 output you don't own the world its on loan from your kids!!

Tony agreed when I was in Europe I have seen how they use public transportation, bicycles, and smaller cars. Also each community is set up with everything yu need you could almost walk to get what ever you need. With the rasing fuel prices here in the USA it is coming here too

The whale meat I had decades ago in Japan tasted a lot like salty Pork. I had a simple rule while in Japan, I would eat anything that was cooked, and almost nothing raw. The Japs are GREAT host, which is handy as your per-diem doesn't go very far there. They do like to eat (and DRINK ) well, I usually did not ask what was on the plate for fear of what it might turn out to be, but the whale bacon was too tasty not to find out what it was.
Too bad I will probably never get another bite, I think it's something like $600 a pound now, and business no longer takes me to Japan! |

I dunno about those "smaller cars" you talk about Tony.I got a '96 Crown Victoria(which I do love dearly-its what a car SHOULD be!) Although it has an 8 cyl engine...it only gets 9 M.P.G. less than a Suzuki Swift of the same vintage(on the highway). Now I ask you(or anyone) for 9 MPG, what would you rather ride in? PLUS-when was the last time ANYONE saw a '96 Suzuki Swift on the road??. Think I'll keep the Crown Hoadie |

Some of us have our guns so that no one can force us to give up our way of life, and "bad habit's". Sounds seductively reasonable, until you realize that some one else is setting the terms of your life! Eco-nut Greenies or Bin Laden, both want to control you/us according to what THEY see as the "TRUTH", and I will give both the same answer. I live in a very rural area of the U.S. for a reason. It will be significantly more difficult for the PC goons to implement their socialist crap here. Most of our roads are unpaved, 4wd is a necessity in winter, and we are too scattered and well armed to conveniently round up and "re-educate". Energy shortages are 95% political, there are more ways to harvest energy than most of us have ever heard about. "Global Warming" is a natural process, it's been going on for millennia, and is beyond mankind's ability to regulate. Until you have the ability to regulate the Sun, halt volcanic activity, control ocean temperatures, etc., controlling "global warming" and "Carbon Credits" will remain among the great scam$ of this century. "Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves." -- William Pitt "He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself." -- Thomas Paine |

Your right! There is ALOT of ways to realize abundant "green" energy. The lobbyists(oil in particular) are there to ensure that they dont hit the mainstream market!!
Some of you got the e-clip about the cancer reasearcher that accidentally set ordinary SEAWATER alight..& achieving a 1,500 deg CELCIUS burn.Seawater is the most abundant renewable resource there is.Can you imagine what that wud to to the oil capitalists?? Hoadie |

There is a difference in being a SLOB and wasteful verses have some bad habits and having the freedom to be our selfs.

I am with Richard, "global warming" rates up even higher than Y2K in my book!
"Earth Hour" started here in Sydney last year... mainly because a paper wanted to sell more copies so they went on a big crusade to save the world from global warming, by getting people to turn their lights off for an hour one night a year This year it spread to a lot of other cities full of bleeding hearts. There id definatly an alternative to coal fired power generation, and thats Nuclear power. We have a heap of uranium here (dave even works at a uranium mine) but we are just digging it up and sending it to Europe, the US and alarmingly China. There is only one Nuclear Reactor in Australia and that is only for research and for manufacturing medical products. As the Labour government was just elected they went with what the masses though was a good thing and ruled out Nuclear power.. so we are three years further away from Nuclear power, and other energy sources. Nuclear power is the perfect base load power source at the moment, until we can research and develop other better methods of electricity generation. As it is at the moment "green energy" can not handle our base load requirements. /rant off |

Nuclear power is fine!! Now who's going to get rid of the crap they produce when its finished? YOUR GRAND KIDS??? ASSUMING YOU AREN'T STERILE DUE TO EXCESS RADIATION IN THE ATMOSPHERE! AREAS OF THE UK ARE STILL SUFFERING DUE TO CHERNOBYL FALL OUT DROPPING ON US. Global warming has been on the up for may years, ever since the industrial revolution. If you look at early photos of the forests in Scandinavia you'll see trees dying!! THAT WAS CAUSED BY SURPHUR PRODUCED IN THE UK DURING THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION. The suphur dissolved in the atmosphere making the rain acid, so eventually the trees got hosed down with dilute Sulphuric acid. What happens when plants die?? The CO2 levels go up because the plants absorb CO2 and produce O2. Hoadie your 8 cylinder engine gives you 9 mpg, my small 4x4 gives me 30 mpg and apart from towing huge weights it can do anything the big 4x4s can do. The Land Rover Discovery is even more econonomical it will give me in excess of 30mpg tows large loads and uses diesel. We live in a rural area (ok not as rural as some areas of the usa) the roads are good for most of the time and yes we have weapons here. BUT you really think we'd get away with starting a civil war??? I THINK NOT MY FRIEND.! Governments have total control over the armed forces ( or so they like us to believe). Now you recon you can take out an APC with an enfield??? I think not !!! You have automatic weapons the rest of the world ie UK Australia Canada doesn't have access to them. So when your government clamps down on automatics reducing you to bolt action or straight pull what you going to do then?? Throw rocks??? Some of the lads on here are combat veterans and I'm sure they'd agree with me war either civil or global isn't fun its dirty scary and stressful. Those who take part and come home don't and can't forget what happened no matter how hard they try! So forget armed conflict as an option!

Tony there is a process that when used the nuclear waste is reduced to a harmless ash. Now why they do not use this? I do not know.
