Webley .45ACP Adapter Plates

   Have this Webley MkII that, as so many were, converted to .45ACP by shaving the cylinder.  I know there were adapter plates available so I could shoot .455 in it but I haven't been able to track one down.  Any leads?

	Have plenty of full and 1/2 moon clips for my Colt 1917, S&W 1917, and S&W M-22 Thunder Ranch. I know I can get soft cowboy action .45 ACP lead loads in and around 13000psi which should be safe to shoot in the Webley, but it's a smaller bullet rattling down the barrel. Was looking for the conversion plates I recall seeing that would bring the cylinder length back up to accommodate .455 cartridges. I do need to get off the fence and just start reloading...

	please note that preasure issue the mkII was a black powder revolver and not rated for the 45acp or the later smokeless 455 , you would need to get to the mkV before you could trust smokeless in these and even then id download to the cowboy loads [and i do in the few i have left of my cllection these days

	The MkII were nitro proofed and marked as such but I agree on the low power loads. If I can pick up or reload ACP in the 600~650FPS range with a decent lead bullet, I should be under 13000PSI which is what they were proofed to. 3.5grains of Trail Boss with a LRN would come in below 12000PSI. Pretty common for the Cowboy Shooters using old Schofields, etc.

	I loaded .451 copper plated (not jacketed) lead bullets seated into the .455 Webley Mk I and Mk II cases with good accuracy in my Mk V. The plating is thin and the bullet seems to upset into the grooves. I'll dig out my notes tonight and find the recipe. I know I tried Unique, Bullseye and I think I also tried Trail Boss. Or, you could use cast lead bullets sized to 0.454 - 0.455 loaded into the .45 ACP case, using minimum powder charge. Agree on the above, I would not shoot .45 ACP factory ammo in these revolvers.

	I use whatever the RCBS mold drop out , lube grooves , load and have no issues.

	mrB , thats exactly where i would go but still be careful , actually id not go smokeless before the mkV as thats when they transitioned to smokeless , just me being oon the safe side , i do load to those levels for my mkV as its the one ive kept from my collection ,

	I read somewhere that the cylinder diameter was increased (increasing the chamber walls thickness) for the Mk V to use smokeless loads?
