Plows & salt are everywhere they seem to have a handle on the "A" rods, but we're about an "e" road, if that.

If you are on a "E" road then I am on a "F" road, cow path or a friend of Hoadie road.

Ah..nice thing about being sandwhiched betwixt 2 great lakes..the warmer temps of the lakes have a tendency to protect us here. This time of year, the prevailing winds are westerly. But the warmer temps on Erie kinda deflect the winds, so south shore of Erie & North shore of Ontario get clobberated. If you add in the snow coming off of Georgian Bay / Lake Huron you REALLY get lambasted!
North Penn, upstate NY get the effects of L.Erie's wrath. When the winds shift to Northerly, we usually get spared, but higher elevation (Niagara Falls) gets it. I was cutting my lawn in a T-shirt one year-bout this time-& I could see the snowstorm hitting Niagara Falls to Buffalo.Man, they REALLY got dumped on that time!

The temp finally just got above freezing so its starting to melt. Supposedly just in time to refreeze & have more white crap fall on us tomorrow night!

Hey Shamu,

When is it going to be clear driving on 81 by your house this week?

I may have to take a trip north.

Thanks,

Ed

Interstates should be fine, they clear them first. I'll be getting an e-mail from the Mrs in about an hour. She uses 70 & 81 to get to work so you can have a first hand update.

Woke up to about 3~4" this morning, supposedly another 2~3" to come. Its just the light fluffy stuff though so no big deal.

OK, updated. Both I-70 & I-81 have been treated & plowed. It is still snowing though but they seem to have it under control.
Local roads are still not plowed though so I'd avoid 11 if you think of it as an alternate route.

This is my back road. It actually passes through the bushes in the distance & carrries on up the other side of the hill, but this angle doesn't show the jiggle so it looks blocked.

im just on my way out for second bout of shoveling this morning , i started early and went till the frigid air penetrated my bones and numbed my toes and fingers , now ive had my coffee and thoroughly warmed my extremities , so out and do some more , im thinking it may take a few of these short spurts to complete the job

-93.5C you say....nah, that's merely a Saskatchewan heat wave! JK'g of course. I have a friend in Ottawa who works for the Geological Survey of Canada and he is currently near Elsemere Island working with a crew of other geologists. They stay in outfitter tents, have to be helicoptered into the region with all their supplies to last a month then they get outta Dodge. They are armed for polar bear encounters of the dangerous kind but he says the main enemy is the frigid arctic weather. You couldn't pay me enough to do that job but he loves the workout! He has spoken of -72C without the wind chill but -93.5C?? INCROYABLE!!

Hoadie,

I have experienced temps lower than that.

About a -1000 C.

Every time my ex-wife dropped her shorts.
